Asst. 4/24 On MVC With A Rollover - State Route 1

At around 0930 hrs station 29 was alerted for a engine assist stations 4/24 on a mvc with rollover on Rte 1 at the Lorewood Grove Rd off ramp. Engine 29-4 went responding with a crew of 4 under the command of Asst. Chief Ryan Stuckert. Upon arrival a single tractor and trailer hauling approx. 8,000 gallons of fuel had rolled down the enbankment which trapped the driver under the cab of the truck. 29-4's crew started to assist with the extrication efforts that were already underway by stations 4/24 (Odessa) and station 15 (Delaware City) units that were already onscene. Route 1 command (Jessie Hensley) requested for Tanker 29 and all cribbing that 29 could provide which prompted the response of Rescue 29. Tanker 29 responded under the command of Asst. Chief John Newman and Rescue 29 responded under the command of Deputy Brian Dunkelberger. All cribbing,rams, sawzalls and hydraulic lines off of station 29's rigs were used for the extrication effort. Tanker 29 was tasked with supplying 34-1 from station 34 (Valero Refinery). After extrication was completed the rescue and the engine were cleared while the tanker remained onscene with Asst. John Newman and Capt. Tom Riale to continue to supply water while Hazmat crews off loaded the truck.
