The Port Penn Vol. Fire Company regrets to announce the passing of Fire Recorder Karen Newman. Karen joined our company in June of 1998 and has been an active member ever since. Karen has been the company’s Fire Recorder since December of 2006; she has also served on numerous committees. Karen was one of top fire responders for the year 2008, and she also received a unit citation award from January 2007 for assisting with a barge fire in the Delaware River. Karen was one of the members that we could always count on to work the fire company bar for an event or function. Karen was very supportive of the company's softball team and even kept the score books for them. Karen was also a Life Member of the Wilmington Manor Ladies Auxiliary. Karen will be sadly missed by all and we ask that everyone keeps the Newman Family in your thoughts and prayers. Funeral details will be posted when they are complete.
