On July 27th at 10:56hrs the Port Penn Fire Company was dispatched to assist Delaware City Fire Co. (15) with a working building fire. Engine 29-4 with Crew of 5 under command of Chief Speakman went responding at time of dispatch. 29-4 arrived first due engine just after 15-8 who reported a 50 by 100 warehouse with heavy fire throughout.
29-4 was asked to acquire a water supply from a hydrant located 800ft away. The Crew began assisting with stretching lines to the Alpha and Bravo side of the structure. The structure was an apparent scrap metal storage facility which also had several pieces of machinery inside of it. There were also numerous explosions coming from the building due to stored propane tanks. Master streams were set up via aerials 15-7 and Ladder 12. Crews worked on suppression for several hours.
