On August 21 2016 at 16:01 Hours the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown was alerted for a house fire in the 500 block of Whispering Trail in the community of Springmill. Chief 27-8 and Engine 275 arrived on location with Fire Showing and the assignment was upgraded to a working alarm. Rescue Engine 296 responded as the RIT company for the upgraded assignment. The cause of the fire is under investigation however its believed to be a lighting strike from the severe storms that were passing the area at the time. While operating at this alarm another box assignment was sent to a home within the same community for a house struck by lighting.
