On August 7th 2016 the Port Penn Fire Company was participating in a joint Delaware State Fire School Training program for Rescue Boat Operator with Rescue boats 18 and 15. During this training session a water rescue box was dispatched to the area of Augustine Beach for an overturned boat with people in the water. The boats responded to the area and began a search for the boat. After searching the reported area with negative results trooper 4 was able to locate the boat overturned in the liston range. Crews rescued the people in the water and returned them to awating EMS resources at Augustine Beach. This was the second water rescue alarm of the day as the crews had responded earlier in the day to a boat taking on water in the C&D canal.
