On sunday July 23rd a severe storm moved through New Castle County bringing intense rainfalls in a very short time frame. The station was alerted to respond to a vehicle in flood waters in the area of Snuff Mill Road. Numerous water rescues were being conducted throughout the North western portion of the county. While the MRU was responding to Snuff Mill Rd an additional alarm was transmitted for a person trapped in a car in fast moving water. MRU 29 redirected to the alarm, while enroute a request was filled for the New Castle County Surface Water Rescue Team by the first arriving officer on scene. MRU 29 arrived on location, sized up the rescue and quickly entered the water and rescued the trapped occupant. After completing this rescue the MRU was assigned to the Talleyville Fire Station to stand by the area in the event of other calls. After covering the area for one hour the MRU cleared the standby and returned to quarters.
