Over the last year the Port Penn Vol. Fire Company Apparatus Committee spent the time meeting, planning and executing the refurbishment on Tanker 29. The committee as a whole came to the conclusion that with the mileage and condition of the body on the truck we could get several more years of service out of our first due piece. After the committee decided the needs that had to be addressed in order to get another decade out of the truck, we chose Marco Equipment Sales out of Honey Brook, PA to complete the referb project. The Tanker left the station in late June and made the trip to Chester County PA to Marco for the work to begin. Over the next 7 months the tanker got an extreme makeover from front to back and all points in between. The truck was repainted to match the companies new gray over red paint scheme, all the lighting was replaced with LED lighting to reduce the overall demand on the electrical systems from the old halogen and strobe lights. The heating and air conditioning was replaced along with reengineering compartments to better suit the needs of department. Due to the age of the truck they had to manufacture several of the parts in house in order to get some of the systems back in working order. After several months of hard work the company got an early Christmas present with the completion and return of our first due apparatus!! We'd like to take the time to thank all those involved for making this project possible, The Apparatus Committee of the Port Penn Vol. Fire Company spent several hours of their own time away from home, over email and on the phone making this happen! Marco Equipment Sales for doing an excellent job on the truck, taking extra care in meeting all of our needs and getting the project completed in such a timely fashion, they were on point with providing us weekly photos and updates on the status of the project!
