Port Penn Firefighters Approve 1st Collective Bargaining Agreement

Wednesday, October 15, 2025

The Port Penn Fire Company and the New Castle County Uniformed Firefighters - I.A.F.F. Local 4417 have reached a historic milestone with the approval of company's first collective bargaining agreement. Following months of negotiations we are proud to announce that we have approved a four (4) year contract with Port Penn career firefighters. Through the efforts of  Port Penn President Brian Dunkelberger and IAFF President John Adams, Shop Steward Ryan Kennard and Port Penn Chairman Bill Brown, Trustee Steve DiVirgilio and Director Bob Trowbridge this contract protects existing benefits, improves operational efficency and lays out a fiscally responsible plan to ensure the safety of our firefighters and the communities that they serve. Today, Port Penn joins the 14 other New Castle County fire companies with collective bargaining agreements for their firefighters.
