Water Rescue Delaware River

On February 28th 2017 The Good Will Fire Company was alerted for a boat taking on water at the Delaware Memorial Bridge. 29 Marine 1 responded as a mutual aid boat and arrived on location with the marine unit from Good Will at a new location south of Old New Castle. The crew remained in service for several hours assisting with dewatering and towing operations. USCG and Minquas Fire Company were also on location and assisted in the operations.

2nd Alarm Building Fire in Wilmington Manor

On February 24th Wilmington Manor Fire Company was alerted for a multi-residential structure fire with a report of a kitchen on fire in a second-floor apartment. 296 responded with a crew of 5 and operated on scene for an hour performing overhaul.

Line Of Duty Death - Wilmington Fire Department

In the early morning hours of September 24th the Wilmington Fire Department responded to a reported house fire in the 1700 blk of Lakeview Rd in Wilmington. Arriving crews found a working alarm with Fire showing. During the initial attack there was an event that resulted in firefighters becoming trapped within the home. The Wilmington Fire Department has announced the tragic passing of Lieutenant Christopher M. Leach, age 41 and Sr. Firefighter Jerry W. Fickes, age 51. In addition to this tragic loss two additional firefighters are in Crozer Burn center listed as critical but stable, Sr. Firefighter Firefighter Ardythe D. Hope and Firefighter Brad Speakman. There were additional Firefighters treated and released for various injuries.


72B2 - Medical Emergency on vessel in the Delaware River south of the C&D canal

Tuesday, August 23, 2016
On August 23rd at 23:41 Hrs a water rescue box was dispatched for a medical emergency on a boat that was being towed. The assignment consisted of rescue boats 15,18,29 and DCFC Bls. Rescue Boats arrived on location to find one person who had suffered a severe laceration after their vessel had hit a large wake. Crews provided EMS care and then transported the patient to the Delaware City Marina.
