NEW CASTLE COUNTY PARAMEDIC RESUSCITATION ACADEMY

The Port Penn Fire Company graduated 3 staff members from the 2nd annual Resuscitation Academy hosted by the New Castle County Paramedics. Chief Frank Schoeffler, Paid staff member Mark willis and Timothy Conrad attended the 2 day class held at the Embassy Suites conference center. The Resuscitation Academy is a partnership between New Castle County Paramedics and Seattle, Washington and Howard County, Maryland based Resuscitation Academies in an effort to bring the methods used that have been highly successful with increasing the survival rates of sudden cardiac arrest. The Academy is a 2 day class that is offered free to EMS providers. The class covers all aspects of CPR and management of sudden cardiac arrest, including pit crew style CPR and the application of LUCAS devices.

Motor Vehicle Crash W/Entrapment Cox Neck Rd

Station 29 was alerted to Assist Station 1-5 with 29-6 on an MVC with entrapment. 29-6 with a crew in quarters responded in minutes with 4. Upon arrival crews assisted units on scene with extrication. 1 was transported to the local trauma center, crews picked up and cleared by command returning.
